Mobile County, Alabama Notes

The following information comes from loose notes that I have accumulated over the years which provides information on various Partridge and variant surnames of Mobile County, Alabama. Many of these names I have not yet been able to connect to the Partridge Family Tree and I am hoping for assistance.

Lumber River Scots + their Descendants

John Abda Purcell, 2nd child and oldest son of Harrison (Malcolm2, John1) Purcell and Margaret V. Clayton, b. 10 Oct 1880 and d. 30 Aug 1907. He was a young man of outstanding character. He was a civil engineer and was employed by the Central of Georgia Railway Company, and later by the Illinois Central. He m. Ada Mabel Partridge of Mobile, AL. Ada was probably related to the Mobile Families. Issue:

  1. John Abda Purcell II, b. 9 Aug 1907. He graduated from John Hopkins University in the class of 1930 and is in 1942 the gas engineering business. He is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He m. Dolly Swartz of Philadelphia, PA in 1935. They lived in Elkton, MD, where he was in charge of the electric and gas plants.

Ada Mabel m. 2nd, Carlton C. Hess and resided in Mobile, Mobile, AL.
